A Message From Mrs. Mahoney

May 1, 2012

In May of 2002 Pope John Paul II said, “Today we begin the month dedicated to our Lady, a favorite of popular devotion.  We at the Lower Mills campus, during the month of May, also honor Mary, our Mother, and we honor our PJPII mothers for their support, strength, prayers and love. You are a constant force behind all our school events.
We have a busy month ahead of us beginning with our grade K2 and grade 1 students attending the Big Apple Circus on May 2nd.

Grades 2-8 will be attending the Strand Theater on May 4th to see the Boston Conservatory Orchestra perform.
Heritage Night will be held on May 4th @6:00pm. This is a wonderful night for the families of the Lower Mills Campus to come together and celebrate the different cultures that make up our wonderful school. Come and feast on the delicious foods made by our own families.

Our students will be doing a lot of assessments during the month of May. The Common Knowledge test will be given to our middle school during the week of May 7th, First Grade Readiness test will be given to our K2 students the week of May 14th and the Math Diagnostics will be given to grades 3-8 during the week of May 21st.

The Lower Mills Spring Show will be held on May 8th @6:30pm. Please make sure your child is at the school by 6:00pm.
Our grade 6th students will be going on the Freedom Trail May 9th. There is no other place in the United States where you can take in the rich history of America’s Revolution.

The second grade students have been busily preparing for First Holy Communion which will be held on May 12th @11:00am. We ask that you keep them in your prayers.

The grade 2 students will be seeing; Alice in Wonderland at the Berkley Performance Center on May 15th. This is all due in fact to a Literacy Grant received by Ms. Perkins.

On May 18th we will be remembering the birthday of Blessed Pope John Paul II. On this day we will also be having a May Procession @9:00am hosted by the grade 2 students at the grotto, in our school yard.

The Parent Corp is hosting a Scholastic Book Fair on May 22nd-May 23rd. It will be held in the gym, and each class will have a designated time to purchase books.

Grade 8 finals will be held the week of May 29th-May 31st.

As you can see May is a busy month for our school.

I ask God to bless our Pope John Paul II families, and I ask him to especially bless our wonderful mothers and grandmothers during the month of May.

With Peace,

Mrs. Kim Mahoney
